HOW DOES THE TOY LIBRARY WORK?

Borrowing toys is simple, fun, and designed to fit your family's needs. Here's how it works:

  • Sign Up for a Membership
    • Choose the membership plan that works best for you.
  • Borrow and Play
    • Sign in online to borrow items from our collection! You can mix and match toys to suit your child's interests or development.
  • Return and Reuse
    • Return the toys at your weekly pick-up date and start the process all over again!
WILL WE FIND THE NEWEST TOYS ON THE MARKET AT CRYBABY CAFÉ & TOY LIBRARY?

At Crybaby Café, we’re committed to keeping our toy library fresh, exciting, and packed with toys.

Here's how we do it:

  • Regular Updates: Our collection is always evolving. We aim to include classic toys as well as newer, innovative toys.
  • Sustainable & Thoughtful Options: We focus on durable, high-quality toys from trusted brands, including eco-friendly and ethically made options.
  • Feedback-Driven Choices: Your input matters! Let us know if there’s a toy you’d love to see—we are always evolving and willing to grow.

Membership/Other

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Here's how to get started:

  • Step 1: Choose your membership term. Pick from our 7-day mini-membership, month-to-month, 12-month options to best suit your family’s needs.
  • Step 2: Create your member profile online.
  • Step 3: Sign the member agreement and add a payment method to your account. Signing up online is great because you can have everything set up before we deliver to your neighborhood. Sign up for emails and keep an eye out for in-person borrowing events.
HOW DO I RESERVE TOYS AT CRYBABY CAFÉ & TOY LIBRARY?

You can easily reserve toys by logging into your Member Login and finding the Reserve button. Then you’ll browse our catalog and complete the reservation steps. Reserve your favorites up to 48 hours before your designated weekly delivery date and we will bring them right to your doorstep.

If you encounter any issues while making a reservation or have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us via email. We’re always here to ensure your experience is smooth and enjoyable!

WHY DO YOU NEED TO KEEP MY CREDIT CARD ON FILE?

We only do this for borrowing. This ensures a seamless borrowing process and that inventory is returned.

WHAT IS YOUR DELIVERY SCHEDULE?
  • Monday: Downtown Frederick & Nearby Neighborhoods
    We focus on central Frederick, including neighborhoods like Baker Park, North Market, and Carroll Creek.
  • Tuesday: Southern Frederick County (Urbana, Ijamsville)
  • Wednesday: Western Frederick County (Middletown, Braddock Heights, Brunswick)
  • Thursday: Northern Frederick County (Walkersville, Thurmont)
  • Friday: Eastern Frederick County (New Market, Mount Airy)
  • Saturday: Look out for Special Events!

Please place orders 48 hours before your set delivery day.

YOU WILL ACTUALLY DELIVER TO MY HOUSE?

Correct! We deliver the fun right to your doorstep! Does our delivery schedule not work for you? Email us to see if we can accommodate a different drop off day.

DO I NEED TO BE HOME WHEN THE TOYS ARE DELIVERED OR TO RETURN THEM?

Nope! The entire delivery process is designed to be contactless, so you do not need to be home when we deliver or pick up. We deliver items in a provided reusable bag, and we ask that you place your items in a secure space for pickup where they are easily located by our delivery team.

IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF KIDS INCLUDED IN EACH MEMBERSHIP?

Each membership covers an entire immediate family all living in the same household. Our base membership allows for 3 toys to be checked out at time, and this is a great choice for smaller families.  Larger families may want to upgrade to a membership that allows 5 toys checked out at a time.  Check out our membership offerings here.

DO I HAVE TO COMMIT TO A LONG-TERM MEMBERSHIP?

Not at all! At Crybaby Café & Toy Library, we believe in flexibility that works for you. While we offer monthly memberships for regular borrowers, there’s no requirement to commit to a long-term plan.

Whether you want to try it out for a week or stick with us for the long haul, the choice is yours! We're here to make playtime easy, fun, and stress-free. 😊

Plus, all members get a 10% discount on party rentals.

CAN WE RENEW OUR ITEMS?

Yes. With few exceptions, all of our inventory can be renewed twice for a total of two additional weeks. To renew, you can log into your user account here, or we can handle it for you over the phone.

DO YOU CHARGE LATE FEES? ANY OTHER FEES?

Our late fee is $.50/day/item. We charge a LEGO reassembly fee of $10 for sets returned disassembled. There is also a deep cleaning fee of $10 for items returned covered in mud, sand, pet hair, food, mildew, bodily fluids or excessive dirt.

Proceeds from all fee collections go towards a scholarship fund for our toy library for members the community.

STILL NOT SURE IF THE MEMBERSHIP IS FOR YOU?

Check out our one-time, 7-day mini-membership for $20. NO COMMITMENT and you get to borrow up to 3 toys during your 7-day term.

If you choose to sign up at the end of your 7-day trial, the $20 goes towards your first month.

CLEANING & ODDS & ENDS

HOW DO YOU CONFIRM ALL TOYS ARE RETURNED WITH ALL THEIR PARTS?

For items with lots of tiny pieces (legos, etc.) we weigh each item to ensure it is returned with all of its pieces. We also charge a LEGO reassembly fee of $10 for sets returned disassembled.

WHAT IS THE CLEANING PROCESS?

WE TAKE CLEANING SERIOUSLY!

All items and cleaned and disinfected in between each loan.

DO WE HAVE TO CLEAN THE TOYS BEFORE RETURNING THEM?

We clean and sanitize each item upon return. We do ask that families inspect their borrowed items prior to checking them back in with us. If items come back needing a bit more attention, there is a deep cleaning fee of $10 for items returned covered in mud, sand, pet hair, food, excessive dirt, etc.

WHAT IF WE BREAK OR LOSE A TOY?

We are parents too! We understand that accidents happen. We give you time to find any missing pieces. If something’s lost for good or broken but the toy still works, it’s just ~$1. If we determine it is unusable, you can replace the item with a comparable donated item, or pay a fee that’s equal to the price of a used toy.

DOES YOUR TOY LIBRARY ACCEPT DONATIONS?

One of our goals is to keep toys circulating and out of landfills. We love donations! Please reach out to us via email if you have items you would like to donate.

We accept most donations with a few exceptions:

  • Incomplete items, or items that are broken or damaged
  • Stuffed animals/plush toys
  • Any type of “violent” toys or games. No guns/nerf toys.

We are in the process of renovating a space on Grove Road off of Urbana Pike in Frederick, Maryland. Sign up for our mailing list and follow our social media for updates. We plan to open summer 2025!
